PT-53WX52 Vs. The PT-53WX42

The PT-53WX52 has the screen Shield ....What the heck does this thing do and it is worth the extra $$$.

If you have kids or animals it prevents fingers, nails, toys etc from scratching the screen. Though some say it will cause reflection and picture quality problems. I got the 47wx52 and never noticed.

I'd get the set with the shield. A scratch on the lenticular (vertical ribs) screen is a real bummer and they're expensive to replace. Also, harder to clean.

You can also get a clear acrylic screen from a plastics store and install it yourself, but it's probably worth the money to just get it built in if you aren't a hands-on tweaker type.
