I just got a HD box for my Panny. Have loved the set since day one. Disabled SVM and red push, calibrated using AVIA...fixed the EVIL POP problem, and 480p looks stunning on this set. 480i is really dark compared, but I just watched 1080i for the first time.

The set is back to its very red nature that it had before I did the EVIL POP fix. Blacks are a reddish tint and the whole picture just has a washed out quality to it. The 480i and 480p are fine still...but 1080i is not that impressive.

I messed in the service menu under 1080i, but it jacked up my 480p settings...so I set them back to what I did before.

    Any suggestions?

you first need to setup your 480i correctly.

480P and 1080 i are done using the 1080 i serve menu items.

    ie 480 p = 1080 i

    Best of luck!!

So, why does 480i look fine, and 480p look fine, but 1080i is reddish and washed out?
Messing with the 480i sections weilded a better 480p picture. My 480i looks fine.
I just want some pointers on how to fix it once and for all. I cannot pull up test patterns in 1080i like I did on 480i and 480p

you need to use the HD service settings to setup the 480P section but only do this once 480i is nailed using the 480i service settings.
