My 27" Panny just gave up on me, and I've been dabling in the idea of taking the HDTV dive. I've been researching and hearing many good things about the Panasonic PT-47WX49 post tweaking. Now my questions are as follows:

1. The panny looked down right dismal on the display floor next to an $1800 47" Toshiba on display next to it. Does the panny really tweak to high quality levels that are equal (superior?) to the Toshibas? (Should I be concerned)

2. Do you find the stretch mode options acceptable for viewing standard 4:3 material?

3. Circuit City has a price match plus 10%. Has anyone taken advantage of this? Potentially dropping the price of the Panny to around $1400! At this price am I derelict if I don't buy it?

4. In house service warranty? Must have or pass?

5. Lastly, should I wait for the new model with the selectable SVM?

Any input is appreciated!

I have the Panny PT47WX51, and I love it. I bought it through a friend who works at a store for nearly cost, $1550 around 7 months ago. I would say you are getting a great price. The new one may make it easier to disable SVM, but it is a breeze to do in the current model by opening it up and removing 3 wires. Took me 10 minutes. If the new one is going to cost more, which it will, I would say buy the wx49 and save a bundle. Put it towards some DVD's or a progressive scan dvd player, which will help greatly.

I got the PT-47WX49 about a month ago and I love it so far. I got it at Best Buy for $1407 with price matching and 10% off coupon. I have already Disabled SVM, Done Red Push Fix, 64-pt convergence, and E-focus. Here are some pics that I just took today. Can't beat it for the price. I say go for it!

Note: the picture hosting place messes with the image quality of these pics. The originals look alot clearer. They might make you sign up to see the pics too.

Are those energy's? Look just like my take 5's:) Looks like a much better picture than the ones I've seen on display floor.
