Without microscopically eyeballing the specs and trying to compare one detail against another in these two products, what is the real "seat of the pants" difference between them? Why would you choose one over the other?

AFAIK, just a few features. The 500 has a photo viewer, TV guide and a limited PIP function. Panels themselves are both the latest 8th generation glass.

Well, since I don't watch any TV at all, and only DVDs, I can't see where the 500U would be of any interest to me if it were more $$.

I am still considering the Pioneer models as an option, after ruling out the Samsung units from some bad reviews I read earlier. I'll be eyeballing some tomorrow. I guess it's possible I may not like ANY of them...... [IMG]

All it would take is the slightest bit of motion blur or ghosting to just kill the whole idea for me.

    Thanks.

What's the latest word on these 2 models? I'm stuck in the middle...
