I have a panny 42 plasma tv that I use for all my tv and video viewing. I'am using an older pioneer dv-333 dvd player and want to upgrade. My question is will a new model with progressive scan with upscaling do any better than just progressive scan, with my edtv plasma. I have been told by a friend that, has the same tv, purchased a Toshiba with HDMI and upconverting made an improvement in picture quality.I'am confused, and didn't think there would be an improvement. Thinking about getting a yamaha 2500 or denon 2910 dvd player? Would I be wasting money on these players, or should I reconsider. SACD and DVD-A is something I would like in the player, along with excellent picture quality. Will be used with a Yamaha RXV-1600 receiver. Thanks in advance Bob

use the denon 2910, set to output 480p via HDMI.

    Happy viewing

Gregg have you seen these 2 players in operation? Thanks for the reply. I have all paradigm studio speakers and hope to get enjoyable sound from the player I choose.
