I just got an RP62 DVD player. I understand that as long as that there is no "B" in the serial number, the DVD player should have the Faroujda/Sage deinterlacing chip.

The serial # on my player is the following: KS2FA001564.

Is there anything else (i.e. manufacturing date) that I should look for to deterimine if my player has teh Faroujda/Sage chip?

Check the Manufactured date as well. If the date is around May to July of 2002 then you are home free. If it was manufactured late in 2002, then there might be chance that it does not have the Faroujda/Sage chip.

Then you are fine. :)

All non-"B" RP-62s have the Faroudja chip.

The "B" indicates the revised version without the Faroudja chip, but with Panasonic's new all-in-one de-interlacing chip.

What did you pay for your player? I found a 62 from soundtrack (april 2002), and it is a floor model. I has a few ding/scratches. They are only offering 10% off though, and I don't think it is a good deal. (they are selling it for $150).

Never mind. I went to Circuit City today to pick a audio rack, and they had a demo RP62S model for sale. $90 bucks... Can't wait for the TV to be delivered (30 minutes and counting)
