I am in the market for a 34" or 36" TV that is HDTV compatible. I have finally limited my search to the Panasonic TAU series 16:9 or the new Sony with DTV already built in 16:9.
Does anyone have and pros or cons to either one of these sets. I want to buy a TV that will still be compatible 5 years from now.
Any help you provide would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, due to the MPAA cronies, this is an impossible request.
no one knows how the firewire/dvi/whatever else they'd like to impose debates will turn out.

I went with the Sony (KD-34XBR2). It's a lot more than the Panasonic, but the picture on this set was hard to beat. Sony's CineMotion is really good. While the Panasonic is a good HDTV set, the Sony has a lot more features: 2 firewire inputs (no spam please), DRC that upconverts to 960i or 480p, and the built in HDTV tuner among other things. I see this set lasting way more than 5 years.
