Im going to be buying one within the next few hours, anyone have any opinions/reviews of the sony? the pany seems to be a well liked unit...

I currently have a sony 685 receiver, so im partial to the sony, then again, the sony receiver is black, and I could get black in the pany to match, hehehe, stupid cosmetic factor....

    any opinions?

I picked up the panasonic rp 62 last weekend and so far I love it. Looks beautiful on my 46" mits. Nothing bad to report with it. And usually I can find something I don't like about most things pretty quick.

    Mike

I heard there was a "flicker" problem with the 62, just like its older unit the 52(or was that the 57)

Travis, the Panasonic DVD-RP56 is known to show the flicker problem.

What's the "flicker" problem and is it visible on interlaced or progressive playback? How good is the RP62 on interlaced SDTV.

    Went with the Sony 715P

    No regrets

the DVD player itself looks AWESOME

and then, the quality it produces, simply amazing for the price, I cant detect any sort of "chroma" bug from what I understand it to be....nor, any flicker problems

dvd drive itself is ultra quiet (cant hear if its even running or not)

bought at best buy for $199

Mp3 Playback is great, and even support 320Kbps playback!

How significant is the flicker problem in the RP56 and RP62?
I mean, is it very noticeable? Does this problem only occur during computer animated films like toy story, etc...?

Can you describe this flicker problem to me so I can see if the 62 does it? If it does I'll return it and get the sony 715.
