Panasonic DVD question? (1 Viewer)

Why does it seem like all the Panasonic DVD players don't support SVCD? They list support for VCD, but not SVCD? I was thinking of picking up the RP82, but as I'm sure most of you know it's been discontinued. So now it's a toss up between the XP30 and XP50, but I'll probably go with the XP30 since DVD-a doesn't matter that much to me.

FWIW, Toshiba's don't support SVCD either. It may have something to do with licensing fees for MPEG2, but I'm just guessing.
