    Hi all.
You've probably guessed my question by now....
I know the A110 is an old model but I read on cdfreaks that it should play +R disc's. So, I have burned a movie with DVD X Copy ( one I already own, of course [IMG] ) and low and behold the player reads "no disc".
It works beautifully on my PC and on a newer DVD player in my office.
Id there anything I can do with A110, such as a firmware upgrade, to fix this?
    Thanks!

I know... I should just replace the thing but it works otherwise just fine... [IMG]
Thanks for the link, very cool. Although some people did report that Fuji 4x +R media worked fine on their A110.

    Thanks!

That is a blast from the past. That was my first DVD player and the first one broke after about 4 months. I got it replaced but the new one broke(bad laser pickup--a common problem with the early Panasonics)6 months after that. I then moved on to another brand.

You got lucky with that one. There are alot of sub $100 players you could get that will perform better thanks to chip advancements and be more compatible with recordable media, even though your A110 works fine.

Yeah, that is just my luck. I thought my receiver died on me but it turned out the speaker connections were touching. A little electrical tape solved the problem... I really wanted a good excuse for a new receiver.

My A110 still works pretty good. A bit touchy on some disks, but I have it in my office now, and don't use it that much.

How prices have dropped -- $400 for a non-progressive, single disc player in '98. A similar model would be about $70 now...

I own a A-310 and still is pretty nice. What I was told that this player can hold it's own compared to the cheaper progressive scan players out now. Anyone care to comment on this statement? Was this person right? I'm using the component out connects.

I have been pretty happy with it. I've never had problems palying regular movies. It just that since it is older, it isn't compatible with the newer technologies.
And the damn thing won't die so I can buy a new one!

My A300U was my favorite interlaced player. Sold it to a friend a year ago though, because she only had a RF connection and not a lot of money, and I had the modulator for the 300. No DTS and does not like burned DVDs a whole lot.

I'm surprised your 110 still works, as I had one also that had the same problem David Judah mentioned, which was very common.

Just move it to another room and get a new one for the main room.

My A-300 (bought March 30th 1997) still works flawlessly. No recordable DVD can be played without hiccups, though.

The A110 was my second player purchase. I think my first was a Pioneer (Model #??) in March 97' Think i paid about $700.00 Had no component outs, no DTS passthrough, no nothing!
