At least that's what this place claims.
    Panasonic DMR-E30K: $699
    Samsung DVDR3000: $559
I've checked around, and a few places claim to have them in stock, at least for the Panasonic. I've been on vacation - out of the loop. How long have these been out?

So, third generation then, and it still doesn't have optical in?
Untill these stand-alones can copy 1:1 I'll stick with my Pioneer A04.
Even for some TV channels with 5.1 audio these recorders are already behind. [IMG]

I'd be surprised if any machines get optical (or coaxial digital) audio in anytime soon. I'm guessing that it's because of the significant legal ramifications.

    Units in stock: Please Call
When you call, they place you on a 2 month waiting list like they did with E20 probably.
    Price is good though.

Hmmm... I guess they're already sold out.

When I posted the message they had 4 left.
