In case anyone is still looking for a Panasonic Blu-ray player, Costco has a $50 off coupon deal running 1/5/09 through 1/25/09 that drops the price to $229.99. I received one as a late Christmas present yesterday and the box is marked DMP-BD35AK (I assume that's Costco's model number for the DMP-BD35k). Costco includes an HDMI cable in the box with the player.

I was there yesterday and there was one sitting on the palette. I don't know if they got snatched up or just weren't put out yet.

Two of the Costco stores near me (Rancho Cucamonga and Montclair) had at least one full pallet of these players per store when I was in there last week. I asked if I could use the coupon early and was told no (I got to use the $60 off a set of 4 BFG tires a week early a few months ago so I figured it was worth asking).

I'd try looking in the local stores for one. I bet there are still some out there.

Is there some sort of a shortage on this model? I couldn't find any of them anywhere right after Christmas and now I see third party sellers have them listed for $340-$450 through Amazon right now. I guess Panasonic has a hot item on their hands.

My local store still had like a dozen of them in a pallet yesterday..

good price with the coupon, but in this day and age, still to much for my taste.......

Charlotte, NC Costco (Tyvola) had at least 12 that I could see today. The Spartanburg store had several last weekend when I was there. Most of the time they won't ask for a coupon and will just scan their master list -- a couple times they scanned a discount that I didn't even know about much less asked for.

Wow! I guess I lucked out! I got one at COSTCO on Dec. 11 for $199.00 It was $279 marked down $80.00. They ran that price for a couple of weeks. I just saw a lady sell a used one on eBay for $300.00 - heavy demand. They still have them at the Carson City NV store for the new -$50 coupon deal. Fantastic machine - Turned my Panasonic AX200U from a dissapointment into what I had hoped for when I upgraded.

Good luck finding one to those who are interested - it's worth hunting for.

I'm trying to find this out for a friend who owns the Pana DMP-BD35K , but can anyone verify whether or not this player has 7.1 / 5.1 analog outputs?
I did not see it on the specs for this player.
My friend has the Onkyo TX-SR504 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver which has the 7.1 ch. analog inputs so now I'm verifying if his BR player has this capability so he benefit from the high def soundtracks.

Please confirm?
and thankyou,

David,

So he would need to have 1 hdmi output for his video high def signal to tv and another hdmi output for the audio.
I don't believe his onkyo has HDMI processing. bummer!

If his receiver could handle HDMI, he'd connect the player to it for both video and audio and then connect the receiver's HDMI output to the TV.

Even though his Onkyo 504 does not handle HDMI, all is not lost since he'd still typically get better quality audio (probably 99% of the time) than DVD via the player's optical/coax output for BDs -- BDs usually come w/ higher quality lossy audio than DVDs.

Since his 504 isn't an expensive model receiver, he might be better off saving the extra $$$ that would otherwise go toward a player w/ 7.1 analog out and use that to help upgrade the receiver sooner -- and then use the 504 elsewhere (or sell it or something)...

-Man-,
yeah after telling him the news about his receiver and BR player, he plans on upgrading his receiver later on and keeping the BR.
