I just read that a comapny called Crystal Sky have aquired the movie rights for Pac-Man. Apparently no actors, directors or writers have signed up yet.

Didn't someone already do this? If not, wasn't there a cartoon several years ago? Some things just shouldn't be done.

I've got the morbid curiosity thing going, I must admit. Although this makes about as much sense as Boggle: The Movie - kids today may not realize this, but there was a time when videogames were just games, and any plot behind "see dots - eat dots" was completely extraneous and, really, unwanted.

What gets me is that this will apparently be live-action. Does anyone else want the entire cast in gigantic, sports mascot-like foam-rubber costumes?

If it ends up being nearly as funny as the concept of an "entire cast in gigantic, sports mascot-like foam-rubber costumes" sounds, then I'm for it.

Does anyone have access to the full article? What else do they say about this?

...Hopefully, Buckner and Garcia will do the score...
I gotta pocket full of quarters, and I'm headed to the arcade...

I have one word for this idea...

    booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I'd go see a pong videogame before Pac-man. Hell, there isn't enough substance in Pac-man for a television commercial, much less a feature film.

It's a dark comedy on the ultimate futility of the human existance. As Pac-Man and the Ghosts question their roles in a society predicated on cannablistic capitalism, the closed universe in which they live begins to crumble. [IMG]

    Scott-

I think you hit it right there.

Except you forgot to put in Phillip Seymour Hoffman. It is, after all, a PTA film.

All I can say is, if they are making a movie . . . I hope it live up to the FANTASTIC Pac-Man cartoon from the early eighties. Oh, I case you can't tell . . . I'm being sarcastic! What the hell is wrong with Hollywood. There are plenty of books out there to make movie out of . . . but, of course, then they'd have to learn how to read. When's the Q-Bert movie coming out? Two hours of a fuzzy armless ball bouncing around the screen making boinking noises. Now that's art!

Jack Lemmon would have to be one of the ghosts...after all, he did die fairly recently.

    Sorry...couldn't resist.
