Override of internal mic on Dell notebooks? (1 Viewer)

My son recently purchased an Inspiron 8600. He does a bit of vocal recording using an external microphone. He's just discovered, however, that the Inspiron has an internal mic that we cannot see documented in the manuals. The mic is causing extraneous noise on his recordings. Is there a way to disable or override the internal mic so he can use just the external mic?

Under the taskbar button called 'Volume'

Options > Properties

Then click the internal mic and the external line in.
