Hi ... I'm new to Home Thetare but I have a Pansonic 5 disk DVD Player with compontent cables into my Sony reciever. My reciever has ex a b & c and a suround sound button which I press and get great sound, awesome infact but I was wondering, by pressing this, am I over-riding the encoding in the DVD? if so, at what point am I over-riding it? I also have a button to press to use only the encoding, can I get better sound then what is encoded by selecting one of the 'zillion' settings I have?

Thanks - Peter

You're just engaging in your receiver's DSP (Digital Signal Processing) for the audio bitstream coming from the DVD. If you like it, use it.
