These are great sounding speakers. This is probably one the best deals of the year. Newbies you want jump in with the big boys for less than 400.00, imagine all floor standing speakers timbre matched, great bass extension. I'm not in the market for speakers, but if I was I would jump on these in a heart beat. 6.5 inch woofers all around with the fronts having dual woofers, sheesh, this is a great deal.

They are now on sale for $179.98 per pair at outpost.com. Also advertised in Friday's Fry's ad here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the same price.

What would be the best setup with these? Like buy 4 of the R50s or 2 R50s and 2 R30s...basically no clue.

I've been looking at getting a system (scouring all the audio boards for the last month) and currently have nothing. I am willing to be patient and buy things in pieces but would like the best quality for the best price (i.e. if this is the deal of the year then I'll buy them and wait till the best deal to buy a receiver and sub).

Yeah, I am not seeing the $49 or $59 prices each. I checked this yesterday and they were still $119.99 each... :frowning:

Yes, the $49.99 price didn't last long at all. There's still mention of it under Wednesday in the HTF "Deals" section, but they note that the deal is now dead.

Current Outpost.com pricing:

R30 - Cherry - $59.99 each
R30 - Black - $119.99 each

R50 - Cherry - $79.99 each
R50 - Black - $199.99 each

Is anybody buying these for a HT set-up? If so, how are you configuring? 2 x R50 for the fronts and 2 x R30 for the rears? Or, 4 x R50 for the fronts and rears?

The speakers in Cherry finish seem like a great deal but I'm on the fence. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Man, I really want to pick up a set of these, but I just don't need them right now. I have a perfectly adequate setup for the time being.

Outpost.com has the R50's (Cherry or Black) priced at $199.99 each.

Today's Fry's Electronics Ad has the Cherry R50's priced (In-Store Price) at $79.99 each / $159.98 per pair (Sold in Pairs Only).

Fine Print: Prices Subject to Change After TUE, Feb 15, 2005.

I waffled on this deal the last time and missed-out. I picked-up 2 pairs of them today for $345 (including tax). Note: The Black finish speakers are still regular price in-store.
