Is there any way in Outlook to trigger Outlook to send an automated email from another application with the address and body of message (like an alarm condition is met, and an email would need to be sent to notify someone of the alarm condition)? TIA.

Uh... why would you want to?

There are monitoring tools that can do that and much more available for free.

I'm not sure just how much you can script Outlook, but it might be enough (I'm not a scripting expert). I'm just wondering why you would want to, as I said, when there are tools that do monitoring etc.

This was just something folks at work wanted to know if it were possible to retrofit some in-house applications to do the alerting when something goes wrong, and required human intervention. But I like your suggestion on perhaps using monitoring software to send out the emails (or more importantly, text messages to a cell phone). Thanks.
