Russell,
Many of the amps in the 200wpc range weight around 80 pounds with just 5 channels. All these specs came from the manufactures web sites.
ATI 1505(150x5): 73lbs
Parasound HCA2205AT(220x5): 85lbs
Rotel RMB-1095(200x5): 75lbs
Sherbourn 5/1500A(200x5): website shows an in carton weight of 79lbs so lets substract four lbs for the box and packaging and make it 75lbs.
All of these amps are proven, quality 5 channels amps. Sounds to me like Outlaw is skimping on the power supplies. Or maybe they know something about amplifier design no one else does. I remember they originally stated that the amp weighed more than 100lbs. Did they cut corners somewhere and use cheaper/smaller power supplies? I noticed they don't publish the size of the power supplies anywhere.
When it comes to amps. It all in the power supply. I'm with you Russell.

Now that's what I'd expect a 7 channel 200 wpc amp to weigh. Sure John pull out the big guns:emoji_thumbsup:. The mighty 2505. Talk about a beast.:)

Guys, don't forget that spec for a DVD firewire connection is not final yet -- it's designated as v0.9. We all know that in this industry a lot can happen between 0.9 and 1.0!!

I'm not sure why someone would want a 7 channel amp? A true 200x7 amp should weigh over 120 pounds and be at 9+ inches tall...not really audio rack friendly dimensions. Isn't the whole point of separates to maintain flexibility and not skimp on the power supply? I'd much rather have a 200x2/200x5 combo or a 200x3/150x5 combo. I'm surprised Outlaw just didn't design a big 2 channel amp to compliment their 165x5...betcha they would sell alot more 2 channels that 7 channels.....

Ricky,

I agree with you. I had an AT1505 (and was using my Denon 3801 rear amps for the rear surrounds). Recently, I picked up an AT1504 which I use in bridged mode (so they are 450Wpc) for the mains and let the AT1505 take up the other 5 channels. Having 2 amps gives more flexibility in placement etc. and is easier on your back when things need to be moved.
