I apologize if this was covered already, I tried looking around, but I couldn't find it, anyway...

I was just wondering about the substantial price drops on:

    The Simpsons: Complete 1st Season
    Futurama: Volume 1

I picked up these Dvds at Walmart for $16.99CDN and $17.99CDN, here in Toronto.

These prices are similar in Future Shop and Amazon.ca aswell.

So my Question is...why was there was such a significant price drop? and are we going to see price drops on the second Seasons and Volumes?

I'm pretty sure those are just sale prices.

Alot of times studios will drop the prices on the 1st season to try and intice new customers. If the price is cheap enough for the 1st season and just an avaerage fan buys it and likes it, they (studios) have a better chance (than the original retail price) of hooking you in to have you purchase the remaing seasons, usually at full price.

At least if I ran a marketing devision thats what I would do.

What Drew said. Some time ago, Fox ran a promotion on not only the two series' first seasons mentioned above, but many others, including the first seasons of 24, Millennium, NYPD Blue etc. For instance, the first season of Millennium was $14.99 on sale at Amazon.com.
