Just so everyone knows. We have decided to end the donation drive for this year as we have collected more than enough for our increased bandwidth and server costs. Altogether with all the Paypal and mailed in donations from the membership and Fox Studios we have collected $10,500.
Ron and I are overwhelmed at the the response of the membership with our second donation drive. It is because of you that we are able to keep this site going.
The monies will be used only to pay for two new servers that we need to have for the web side. Altogether we will have a dual CPU setup with 1G of RAM, RAID 5 dual channel with four SCSI drives for the database and 2 dual CPU 1G RAM servers for the webservers. This should all but eliminate the server load issues we have been having during our peak times. The servers are in the process of being built and should be up and running over the next couple of weeks.
The rest of the money will be used to pay for bandwidth costs which have about tripled in cost over the past several months related to bandwidth. For those of you that are curious we average between 500 to 600G of data usage in a month. We peak around 3 mbit/sec during the day.
Again, thanks to everyone that has contributed to our drive. The forum has been for our membership from day 1 and your donations have allowed us to keep it that way.
