Apparently Ran is not an April Fool's joke everyone thought it was. The announcement is back on Criterion's main page. Perhaps the joke was making us think it was a joke

Talking about Wellspring films that need Criterion releases, you left out what I think is the most important and most needing of a Criterion: Godard's Breathless.
