I have a 43" Hitachi HDTV, if I buy an antenna that can get a HDTV signal do I need any other additional equipment?

Is the ATSC HDTV tuner built into the TV? If not, you'll need to also buy a ATSC HDTV tuner for the TV to go along with the antenna. Otherwise, connect the antenna to the antenna input on the tuner and start positioning the antenna for the best reception possible. It's hit or miss when it comes to HDTV/UHF reception quality at your house, so you may need to go with a larger antenna (either outdoors with a rotor, or up in the attic), or boost the antenna signal.

    David:

You will also need hd receiver if your tv does not have a built in decorder. Most hdtvs do not.

Here are some Directv and Over The Air (OTA) receivers. All prices are msrp.

    Zenith HD-SAT520 $799
    Sony SAT-HD200 $899
    Samsung SIR-TS160 $699
    Hughes HIRD-E86 $599

Look for customer returns to get one cheaper. Some stores may also have discontinued models.

Avsforum.com has lots of info on hdtv.
