Paramount really should consider releasing Ordinary People on Blu-Ray. Winner of four Academy Awards in 1980, including best picture.
The Standard dvd released in 2001 is average. Good picture quality, mono audio track, and trailer.
Perhaps a new special edition would shed some light on Judith Guest's novel to Alvin Sargent's screenplay transition. Also commentary would be great from Robert Redford(director), and Timothy Hutton. A nearly perfect film in the dramatic character study realm of film. A true classic. Maybe a 30 year anniversary edition in 2010 would make for a good time frame. Hope it happens.

I agree.
And to change a bit (but not much) from your angle: a Complete Timothy Hutton anthology would be very nice too. Grouped together his work is worth more, commercially, than it's parts, and it would give us a chance to get some of his films that possibly won't make it to BD (or even SD DVD) at all.

With Redford's work (behind the camera) as a topic, I would like to see 'Quiz Show' and 'A River Runs Through It' on BD as well.
