    Are there any noticeable differences in sound quality between these two cable types? I'm going to upgrade the connections on my PS2 and XBox using one or the other for surround sound in games and when playing DVDs. They seem to run about the same price, but I was just wondering if one is better than the other.

    Also, are cables for HT similar to wiring for car audio? That is, does it not really matter what brand you buy? Is cable cable for the most part? I ask because I need a component cable to run from the receiver to my TV and want to know if I should get the $10 PartsExpress stuff, or the $50 Monster stuff.

    EDIT: Oops, this is probably the wrong section for this question. Sorry everyone.

    Not sure why this is in the Speakers forum, but on the subject of coax vs. optical, check any of the following threads in "Basics":

    There are probably additional threads in the "Tweaking, Connections, and Accessories" forum, which can be found with a search. That forum also has numerous threads on component cables, including:

    Any of the thread listed above would be a good place to ask follow-up questions;
