Uhm.. I can't seem to get my optical cables working :frowning:

I connected the MONSTER Fiber Optic Digital Audio cables from my SONY DVD PLAYER to my Yamaha receiver 6550, there is no sound coming from it?

But when I connect the regular rca red/white cables from the receiver to my dvd player I get sound?

Does this mean my optical cables are screwed up or what?:frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

There are a couple of things you can try:

1) You may need to set your receiver to use the optical input (it may use the analog inputs by default).
2) You may need to set your DVD player to output the digital signal (again, it may not do this by default).

Also, I noticed you said "digital audio cables" (plural). There should only be one cable (whether it's coax or optical).

I hope this helps.

Sony DVD players come factory preset to not output dolby digital and often not output through the digital outs. Go into the settings menu, go to audio, turn digital out on, dolby digital on and dts on.
