This might sound dumb but I need help with using an optical cable. I have only used coax until now. Just got an RP56 dvd player and it only has an optical connection. My question is, do i take the little rubber pieces off the ends of the optical cable or do they go in with them on? Thanks in advance. It is an AR optical cable by the way if that makess a difference.

ARs and RCA make the best optical cables IMO. It's not humble. [IMG] I have a 12 foot AR Optical cable and it works great. I don't think that question is stupid, it's not like it comes with instructions.
On a side note. In a previous digital is digital discussion someone said that the signal is all or none, and I would like to state that although THEORHETICALLY that is true, my friends optical cable had light showing through, but it did NOT work. We switched it to an RCA Optical cable and BAM it was working.
