optical and hdmi- quick question

hi guys
what is the bandwidth of optical and hdmi interfaces?i just want to learn which one is faster.

Neither one is "faster" per say, the digital codec itself is self timing. HDMI has more bandwidth because it has to handle video, but both will easily handle DD or DTS.

Thanks for the answer.But i need to learn the bandwidths!Bandwidth of HDMI 1.3 is 10 gbps but what about SPDIF???

I just wondered why we need HDMI for the advanced sound formats like True Dolby Digital and DTS-HD.This is why

I would have to say that that site is probably incorrect. I can't say for certain though, but those numbers are pretty ridiculously high.

I think it's not the "optical cable" incapable of carrying DTS-HD signals,it's SPDIF which doesn't has enough bandwidth..Am i wrong?
