Oppo dvd/Yamaha receiver quirks (1 Viewer)

Ok, heres my set up:
TV - Panasonic TV (TH-50PX50U)HD/Plasma
DVD - Oppo DVD (OPDV971H)
AV Receiver - Yamaha AV Receiver (RX-V2600)
The Dvd video signal goes into the receiver via a DVI/HDMI link.
The receiver then sends it to the Plasma byway of the HDMI input.

Heres the quirk: When watching Dvds the screen will go black for about a couple of seconds then come back. Audio is not affected. Itll do this 3or 4 times during the course of a 2hr movie every time. I also notice little blue/white line artifacts that flash on screen at various intervals. The Oppo and Yamaha seem to get pretty hot. Would that effect the video signal? The Oppo also is sending its upscaled signal to a receiver that has its own upconverting then sending out.
To much manipulation? Thoughts?

Try sending the signal directly from the oppo to the TV and see if you still see the problems...that'll help point you to the source of the problem.

No.
3 inch clearance for the receiver( Im trying to get a fan set up for it)
However a Digital Motorola Cable box rests on top of the Oppo.
It doesnt get to hot.
