Oppo 971h vs Samsung 960 (1 Viewer)

Hi

I need a new DVD player and it seems as though everyone really likes the Oppo 971h on this board. I also noticed that the Samsung 960 seems to be a favorite, especially with the 1080p feature. Has anyone compared these two with regard to best picture quality?

Being that I have a regular plasma (1080i or 780p) the 1080p feature may not be enough to make me go Samsung if the picture quality of the Oppo is better.

Any suggestions which to buy?

I think this one is a no brainer. No player tested has bested the 971's peformance yet and 1080p won't be of any use to you if your display only does 1080i.

I agree the DV971H is still the $200 Faroudja FLI23xx player to beat.
