I'm looking to put together a package for my dad's living room that will be an upgrade from the current Aiwa HTIB and complement his new Toshiba 34" 16:9 direct-view TV. How does this look?
JBL N-series speakers, $199 @ J&R
Acoustic Research PS112 sub, ~$150 @ Ubid
Denon AVR1403, $299 msrp, $180-$200 assumed street
-or- Denon AVR1603, assumed $399 msrp, ~$300 street based on 1602 prices
Getting the 1803 wouldn't be worth it. The 1603 has the just about everything the 1803 has except 6.1, and in our current living room, the couch is against the wall.
What do you guys think? Is there anything I can do to upgrade this setup and still fall around $600?
