Does anyone actually have this unit? I've seen several for sale on eBay but have also heard that it's not really shipping yet. I'd be interested in any opinions on this processor, or on the Theater Grand II. The Sunfire seems to be in the same price ballpark as the Anthem AVM-20, which I'm also considering, but I haven't heard too much about it.

I just finished reading the Hometheater August edition which gave a very good review to the Anthem AVM-20.
The Theater GrandIII was reviewed here in the June issue.
The Grand has firewire, is DPII, has more component inputs/outputs, compared to the Anthem.
I have not had the opportunity to listen to either but both seems to be very good pre/pros.
If I had to choose then based on my needs I would take the GrandIII

I am also thinking about upgrading to the Theater Grand III. I have a friend with one on order but it has not come in yet. I was all set to buy the Anthem AVM-20 but the upgrade has been put on hold, so I don't think I will be doing that unit. I'll let you know once he gets his.

The avm-20 upgrade is not on hold. Acording to Nick at SF they are testing now and I would estimate from what he told me mid to late August. Good things come to those who wait.

Doesn't the TGIII use the same Motorola processor that the upgraded AVM20 will use? If the TGIII is shipping, that would be confirmation that the AVM20 upgrade is just about here.

I would agree...seeing the TGIII hit the market is proof Motorola's new DSPs are shipping in numbers. Pretty soon Anthem & B&K will be out of excuses.

You're right--thanks for the correction. Wow, and a 20 year warranty to boot.
