Hi,
I currently have a denon 3300 and am thinking about adding a seperate amp as I move towards seperates. Any opinions on the rotel rmb 1095? Which amps would be comparable in price and performance?

Thanks,

I just upgraded from a 3300 to a Rotel 1066 / 1095 combo.

The 1095 is a great amp. I looked at the B&K line and Odesste line. I went with Rotel.

I own one after auditioning many lesser amps(Rotel's own 985Mk2, Anthem MCA5, ATI 1505). The Rotel has more clarity, depth, and power. Its rated at 200Wpc@8ohms, but reviews I read put it at more than that, and it will drive 4ohm loads with no problem at close to 400Wpc.

Comparable amps, based on specs and what I've read/heard, are the Parasound HCA-2205AT, Sherbourn 5/1500A and perhaps the ATI 2505. The new Outlaw 755 might also be a new contender.

Nicolas, what caused you to go with the Rotel. I noticed you live in Flower Mound, where did you purchase your Rotel?

Brad,

I own a 1095, its a great amp in my opinion. I upgraded from a Yammy rec. (85x5) so as you can imagine the difference was huge. The bass is tighter and as Sihan said there is much more clarity and depth. I felt when I listened to the Yamaha at high volumes the sound would quickly become fatiguing no so with the Rotel. If you can go listen to the Rotel somewhere, definitely take the time to do so.

The 1095 is a very nice amp, I liked it a lot when I was auditioning amps a few months ago. That said, I chose to go with the Sherbourn 5/1500A over the 1095. I felt the Sherbourn was more accurate in the mids and highs and also had better bass. But the Rotel has a very appealing sound and it really is a matter of personal preference. Another amp you may want to consider is the Parasound HCA-2205AT. I felt these 3 were the best available in the sub $2K price range.

FWIW, I also demoed the Anthem MCA5II and the ATI 1505, but didn't feel they were in the same class as the other 3. YMMV
