Looking for everyones opinions on what receiver to get for under $300. I want a nice reliable ht receiver with ample power for five speakers. any suggestions, comparisons would really help

The well-reviewed Pioneer 811 (w/DTS-ES & DD-EX & many other features) was recently (and still may be, if only for a short while longer) on sale for $299.99 (from $399) @ Best Buy.

    Other than that, maybe the Pioneer 711 ($299 or less) or the Panasonic SAHE100 ($299 or less & w/DTS-ES & DD-EX ).

If you don't need ES, EX, etc. or need extra bells and whistles and want (in my opinion) better musical sounding receiver- look into the starter HK's- 125, 225, 320. The 320 can be had for around that price- look into JandR.com, not at CC for the best price on these.

I saw the H/K 320 selling for $299 at the 2 local Fry's stores. They are brand new. I got one for the same price but it was the after Thanks Giving sale.
