I saw this in theaters and was blown away and for many months I've regretted not going to see it again. I've never heard any clear details on number of commentaries and other features. I know it has a lot of features, but I don't know specifics. Is it 2-disc?
All the other fans stand up for a much overlooked movie! Robert Duvall's finest perhaps?

I gotta agree with Ron there. The gunfight at the end alone is worth the price of the DVD. Sure the last 10 minutes is unesscesary, but what comes before it is first-rate. Easily the best western since Unforgiven, not that there's been many choices.....

I am not a big western fan, but I will be getting this on release. I saw it in the theater and loved it!
One of Robert Duvall's best performances and one of the best gunfights ever put on film.

Couldn't recommend it enough.[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I didn't get a chance to see it in theaters but it looks awesome and I am pretty confident in Kevin Costner's directing skills.

It is a great movie, I wasn't sure going in....
I find Costner to be very hit and miss in his directing
Dances with Wolves: Wonderful, not too much replay for me though.
Waterworld: Mad Max on water, not as bad as initially thought, but not good either.
    Postman: dreadful
Open Range: Favorite Costner directed yet.

    IMHO, of course....[IMG]

Never saw this one in the cineplex , but it will be a blind purchase for me for sure [IMG]
I've stopped buying dvd's until I've at least seen it as a rental but with this one, It's already in my collection.

I already have Tombstone, Unforgiven, Young Guns and now this one will be right up along side these guys.

Looking forward to it !! [IMG]

I've been drooling to get this one on dvd since I saw it in the theater. The sound was fantastic. The rain and the shotgun blast at the end... was that real or Memorex?

Ron, since you're a fan, maybe you can tell us if the HTF will have a review of this up before release?

One of my favorite movies of the year...too bad this one isn't getting any Oscar consideration. Duvall deserves to get a nomination and the cinematography deserves a nom as well.

I would second the nomination for cinematography! This is just one beautiful film. The high mountain ranges in the backgrounds are spectacular. Yes, another great Duvall performance, and I hope he gets nominated, but I still have to think that "Lonesome Dove" is his best (I'm biased since that is my favorite acting performance, maybe tied with Gregory Peck in "To Kill a Mockingbird).

Very worthy of a blind purchase if you like westerns, and I would say even if you're not a western fan.

I also loved the film, in my top 5 of the year.

Although, when I saw the ad for the DVD this morning, I was thinking, should I buy it? As much as I loved it, it isn't one I would think I would watch all that often.

I second that, I am not a huge fan of the genre and do not own a lot of westerns but this is a must own dvd. This movie was fabulous. Easily one of my top ten of the year. And the shootout at the end is amazing. I had myself tricked into thinking this dvd came out on 01/06. Boy was I dissapointed but at least I had Underworld to keep me happy![IMG]
