    i have the onkyo575x, studio20 fronts and pdr12 sub.

setting the receiver to sub=yes, fronts=small i calibrated the level and run the individual test tone. the readings are as follows:

(radio shack spl meter reading already compensated)

    30hz - 75db

    25hz - 74db

    20hz - almost nothing

i then used the paradigm x20 controller and setting the receiver to sub=none, fronts=large, the readings are as follows:

    30hz - 78db

    25hz - 76db

    20hz - 73.5db

using the x20, i can really hear and feel the vibrations from the sub. why is there a big difference using the receiver's lfe out compared to the x20? (room size is about 1700 cuft w/ the sub located beside the listening couch)

That's unusual, I've never experienced this with my 575x. I borrowed a Servo 15 from a buddy several weeks ago and it put out strong

the pdr12 is actually only rated down to 25hz but given the small room, i still expect some bass at 20hz. hopefully i can get the servo15 next week so i can verify if there is something wrong with the receiver.

I have the plain 575 not the x (all speakers set to small and sub set to yes). I had a PDR10 (don't know how much more capable the pdr12 is though). With testtones, the 20hz signal was silent for me. When I finished my Tempest Sonosub and replaced the PDR10 with it (changing nothing on the settings of the 575), I had oodles of 20hz output.
