Onkyo tx-sr606 receiver? any other suggestions (1 Viewer)

I found the Onkyo 606 for $339 to my door. This seems like a pretty good deal. The video upscaling isn't as praised as some but for that price it seems like a good deal. I would be replacing a 10 year old pioneer VSX-456 so it would be an obvious upgrade. I am on a limited budget and would like to spend under $400. I am running klipsch towers and paradigm center and surround. Working on a diy sub. Any other suggestions that come to mind for a receiver in this price range? Thanks

The Yamaha 663 is the other well equiped budget receiver that can decode DolbyTrueHD and DTS-MA that gets mentioned a lot around here. But it's usually a little closer to $400.

Amazon.com has the 606 for $319.99 right now, with free shipping.
Kinda hard to beat for the money, I think.

Yeah thats where I saw it. 6ave also has it with no shipping and no tax. What do you guys think of the denon avr888 from last year?

Here's another alternative. The Denon 1908. $298 from an authorized dealer.

OOP'S! The 1908 is hdmi 1.3a but it doesn't decode the new HD audio formats.

The 888 doesn't decode the new BluRay HD formats either. But Denon's are solid products.

There is a huge price difference between this years and last years denons. Is the bluray decoding worth the money?

My main player is a PS3. Is it true that it will decode True HD and DTS-HD and send the uncompressed pcm data to the receiver, therefore not needing the receiver to do the decoding. Or am I confused. Right now I cant decide between the Onkyo 606 for $318.21 to my door (from auth.dealer) or the Denon 888 that wont decode for about $375 to my door. Both are smokin deals I think. HELP!
