I'm running dual rear centers inline (- from amp to - on L speaker + from amp to + on R speaker and + on L speaker to - on R)

I have them front firing (5 feet behind me) at about the same level as my L & R surrounds (3 feet above ear level), and the same distance apart as my mains (about 6 feet apart)

I really like the diffused sound the dual rear centers give off.

But I have read that this may put stress on the amp.

Is there any truth to that?

Either way; if I stick with the dual center or a single center; what is proper placement for the speaker(s)?

Actually, I beleive the consensus is that connecting them that way should be easy on your amp.
Please correct me someone if I'm wrong...

BTW, I'm planning to do the same with my Onkyo 600.
