Well, finally my speakers came in, so yesterday I got everything wired up. But then I put in O Brother, Where Art Thou? and selected the DTS on the disc. NO SOUND. Still being new to me I fumbled around for awhile w/ the remote and got the sound back, but it was DD 5.1. So I threw in Jurrasic Park DTS. Same thing. NO SOUND. At all. Since I'm still new I don't know what else to tell you, so please ask if I'm leaving something out. Oh yeah- everything is ok if the movie is in DD. But the receiver shows Dolby D PLII.
Also, I thought that I had this calibration thing figured out, but NOOOooooo :frowning: I'm using VE. Is there supposed to be settings in the receiver that I'm to change or what? Sorry if this sounds like first grade!! I mean,I played VE but I didn't know where to go in the on screen setup of the receiver. And it automatically plays the pink noise when I go to the individual speaker calibration. Help me again!!
Many thanks:b

I can not help you with VE since I have never used it. As for Playing DTS titles Do you have a digital toslink cable or digital coax cable connected between the DVD player and reciever ? Have you assign a digital input for the DVD player during the reciever setup ? Have you enable DTS in DVD player setup menue ?

2. Yes
3. NO! I'll do it and let you know!
Ches-
Thank you :)
The thunderous sound you hear in the background is not the fault of your subwoofer- it's me jumping up and down:D
Gone to check- be back later.:emoji_thumbsup:

Well I take it that you got the DTS issue under control now. Now for the second question if I am understanding you correctly, are you saying that the reciever generated pink noise over rides the DVD reference tones during the speaker calibration setup ? This is normal for Onkyo recievers. Just adjust the speaker level a couple clicks at a time and exit from the setup menue to verify your calibration levels with the SPL and VE reference tones.Just repeat the process for all the speakers and sub.

Sean,
Yes, the DTS issue is solved. Sorry for not getting back in a timely fashion-my daughter was watching Shanghai Noon and I couldn't bring myself to interupt her:)
And, yes, your assumption is correct re:pink noise. I'll try your suggestion asap.
Thanks!:emoji_thumbsup:

Actually you can adjust the speaker levels without having to listen to the receiver's test tones. While the remote is in "RCVR" mode press the "CH SEL/TOP MENU" button to cycle through all the channels and adust the levels up and down with the Level up and down buttons (angle and subtitle)

Reno or William,

What was that suggestion with the remote?

I read it earlier but didn't write it down.

Could you please post it again?

Reno,

Thanks.

It is odd. I read it early in the day. I then checked last night and your post was blank with some lines. I see it is there this morning though. Somebody is messing with my mind perhaps.

Thanks again.
