    anyone here have the 900?
    how you like it?
anything you dont like about it?

I'm also wondering what the difference is between the 900 and the 901?

Its definately a scarce piece of equipment.

I did see a review of the 900 (or was it the 901) in one of the British mags (I get them at B&N). Im guessing that Onkyo pushed it more in europe (vice the 800/801, which I never see in a european mag).

The buyers guide in one of the latest [english] mags has a snip-it from the review. I can quote it over the weekend (its at home now) if you are interested.

Im still waiting for that 802 to come out.

    Hi Burkland,

Here's an article from Sound and Vision regarding the 901. There's also somewhat of a comparision between it and the 900 in the article, and a link to an article containing info about the 900.

    Hope this helps.

    Burkland,

I replaced my Sunfire Theater Grand II preamp with the TX-NR801 and am using it as a processor for my power amp. I've never plugged speakers into it, I'm using the preouts, so bear that in mind. However, I may use it for rear speakers in the future.

As a controller, I can hear an improvement on the bottom-end compared that preamp (4 yrs old). I also like the THX features (re-eq, cinema filter, etc).

The sound is warm and clean, and the unit has a lot of great features (intellivolume, ability to set maximum output level, power on volume level, direct and pure modes).

I'm very happy with it and don't have any buyer's remorse.

Also, i think model year changeover is coming in a few months and you may be able to find discounted pricing on either model (Onecall had a deal on the 801).

    Good luck!

Yep. PM isnt working well for me (I cant seem to do outgoing). I didnt get an e-mail either. Try these this weekend:

    -removed-

Ive got lots of equipment here. Ive even got a brand new Pioneer Elite 54tx right here one shelf below the 800. Its my fathers. Im building him a system. He asked for a Pioneer (he has always used Pioneer, and is a bit too old (stubborn) to change). Now Ive got to find him some speakers to match (he has no preference there, so I at least get to make that decision.

While I have it here, I of course hooked it into my system. I must say, while it is real easy to compare different speakers with one receiver, its a real pain comparing different receivers with the same set of speakers. (See, I feel your pain in you receiver search) Hows the comparison? The Onkyo has more in the "middle".

    Hey Bob

How the CP802 holding out? Im real curious to see how the sp502 turns out. Will it be a single disc version of the 802, or will it be completely different? I hope to find that out soon.

Looks like it could be a big Onkyo christmas for me. [IMG]

    Hi Rob,

Still happy. Apparently the DV-CP802 will be in the next group of DVD players reviewed at Secrets of Home Theater. So I'm interested to see what they have to say.

They completed a test of the Integra DPC 7.4 which I believe is equivalent to the DV-CP702.

    Here's the link:

I'm honestly not sure how much different the 802 will be, but I guess we'll find out soon.
