I have the Onkyo TX-NR676,
My speakers are
  • Fronts-Polk audio TSI200
  • Center-Polk audio CS10
  • Rears-Polk audio TSI100
  • Subwoofer-Polk audio PSW-505
I have done the setup with the room as quiet as possible, and everything sounds hollow and has no depth unless i put the equalizer at the settings i list and it still sounds off. Also when im watching a movie it's in straight decode and when i pause it it switches to mono, so when i press play i have no sound for 2-6 seconds until it switches back. how do i fix the problems i have mentioned?
any help would be appreciated.

Can you come up with any other way to describe the sound than “hollow”?

I think those speakers can be bi-amped. I wonder if the jumper straps are missing. Are there two or four posts on the back of the speakers, and if four, are there flat pieces of metal between the positive and negative pairs?

There's just no telling from this info. Nothing comes to mind as more likely than a dozen other shots in the dark. I have no idea if it's the speakers, the receiver, improper setup, a setting somewhere...

Sometimes the best first step to take is do a factory reset on the receiver. You should be able to find that procedure in the manual or from an internet search for that model. You'll have to completely set up everything in the receiver again from the beginning, like it was new out of the box.

That's all I have.

Do things get louder and much more clear if you pan the receiver to either the left or right speaker? If so, the speakers may be wired out of phase. Other than that, I’m out of ideas too.
