anyone have this receiver?
hows it sound?
what about this THX Ultra 2? can you tell a difference?

Its basically the same as THX Select, except its set up for larger rooms (higher power and such).

I'm not sure about that.

THX Ultra2 also supports 7.1 playback from 5.1 (DTS/DD) DVDs. Uses phase decorrelation for the rears to give a unique signal to each. I don't think Select has that. (Not the same as DPL IIx. BTW, DPL IIx is better.)

And actually, it's not new. THX Ultra2 has been available for at least 16 months. My buddy got a 989 Ver 2 a few months ago as a floor model from Frys (local electronics store). $1000! :)

He likes it, but he added a dedicated two channel amp for the mains, and likes it even better. ;)

Yeah, this is really old news. UltraII does work well. My B&K pre has it..
