Onkyo TX-DS898 or wait? (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I was thinking about getting an Onkyo TX-DS898 Receiver. Does anyone know how long this receiver has been out and if Onkyo might be coming out with a replacement soon? I didn't want to buy one now only to find out that a newer model is coming out to replace it soon.

Also what is the best price for the 898 that anyone has seen?

Any comments appreciated.

Fine RCVR. Yes a new one=model 800/900 will be out soon. Here is a list of ones I have considered but own a 3802.
denon 5800=on clearance(big amps)/ 5803 is too high in price
onkyo 898/989
Pioneer 47/49
hk 8000
Sony 5es/7es
jvc 10
3803 will be out any day
And many more. Check with 6th ave/ JR / Oades over the phone before you leap.

I might wait because of the problems I have been hearing about with the current Onkyo's.

I would like to stay under $1000. I like all the features the Onkyo 797 has.

look at the Pioneer Elite VSX-45TX. it can supposedly be had for ~$900 online.
