If anyone in Austin, TX is looking for a good entry-level a/v receiver, ask for Dom Ricchetti at Conn's. It's the display model, but has never been plugged in (just put on the shelf so people could see what it looks like). It includes the remote, box, manual, etc. That's the best deal on a 494 I've seen. The 494 is pretty highly regarded on this forum and cheaphometheater.com.

    I speak from personal experience:
This receiver kicks a$$. I bought it about a year ago after wasting my time with JVC. I have that exact same model and have never had a problem with it. I use it for DVD, CD, VCR, TV, etc and all work spectacular. That is also a good deal for this mdoel. I paid about 299 when I bought mine. Definately perfect for a person on a tight budget, putting that aside it does everything you would need for home theater enjoyment.
