Onkyo SR806 Volume Question (1 Viewer)

I've now run the speaker calibration on my new SR806. One thing I find odd is that I really have to turn this receiver way more up than my 10 year old Yamaha HTR5240. Is this normal? I have to turn it up to -10db and even then it's not that loud. I'm worried something's not hooked up correctly? Does anyone else have this problem?

Don't worry, it is all relative. The numbers are meaningless unless you have both receivers calibrated the same. I believe the 806 included Audyssey Dynamic EQ. If so, the new one is calibrated to reference level. In other words, the speakers should register 75db on an SPL meter when your volume is at 0.

It weird though, I cannot get it loud enough no matter what. I've messed with all of the setting but it's almost like too much is going through the center speaker.

Just checking; You did setup Audyssey as instructed in the Setup Guide at: "Official" Audyssey thread. - Page 191 - AVS Forum

If not, rerun Audyssey exactly as instructed. This Guide has fixed many, many problems.

I believe I fixed the problem. It appears the Audyssey setup set my speakers to between -5db and -10db. I'll read the link and make sure I did the set up properly.
