I am looking for a AV recevier to build my first HT system.
Which one would be the best choice out of three?
It would be great if anyone compare (pros and cons of each)
these models? Or, any other model you like better (worth to upgrade) and I can take a look at including the higher end model of each (SR 801, 3803, v2400)?

I'm debating between the 701 and 2803 as well, hope to hear some helpful feedback.

Personally I wouldn't go for the Onkyo. I am in the same situation as you and I've narrowed down my choices to Yamaha RX-V1400/RX-V2400, HarmanKardon AVR430/AVR630, or Denon 2803/3803/4802. Take a look at the info I've been getting about this comparison on this thread I started: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hreadid=179735

    How about a Maranz 7300 or a Denon 2803?

    Any opinions?

I still just love the sound of Denon power amps, but what I like most isn't really revealed without listening to very horn oriented music.

I really think you have to try to decide based on the sound you like the best. They are all quality AVR's.

It seems like that most people prefer Yamaha (1400/2400)or Denon (2803/3803) over Onkyo (701/801). I would rather be inclined to Onkyo, though.
What's the pros and cons of Onkyo (espeically, SR701), compared to these two other brands, in terms of performance, sound color, connection options, etc.?

Also, is there any speaker/dvd player brand matching better than the other brands with Onkyo receiver? If yes, let me know which brands they are.

Not m, I have a whole new found respect for Onkyo AVR's, even their entry level SR501 is a way over acheiver in my opinion.

But, I just prefer the way Denon power amps sound.

You know all of these are great AVR's, I think you also understand none of us can and should make your mind for you on them.

I'd love to read your impressions of the Onkyo actually.
