Nwebie question.
If I connect all components (TV, DVD Player, Roku, DVR) to the receiver with HDMI cables will it provide the best sound depending on the source ?

With all the technical verbage in the manual I just want to insure that I'm not missing something and don't need an optical cable here or there.

That is the entire point of the AVR.Everything goes to it.
