Onkyo 989 and Sub Crossover Frequency (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I've been tinkering with my setup lately and have noticed threads that talk about setting the crossover frequency in the receivers setup. I've tried to find a place in the set up to specify the frequency where the cut off starts, but I haven't been able to find it. Does it actually exist in the 989? Or does setting all of your speakers to small set the cut-off frequency, and if so, what is the frequency set at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,
The Onkyo 989 is a THX ultra receiver and the crossover is set at 80 Hz (THX standard). It is not adjustable.
My understanding is this:
- Set your speakers to small and LFE as well as info below 80 Hz is sent to your sub.
- Set your speakers to large and full range goes to your speakers while just LFE goes to the sub.
HTH.
If you want to read an interesting discussion of small vs large settings, read this thread.
