A few weeks ago I purchased the Onkyo 898 receiver, and so far have been very happy with it. After going through all of my surround sound intensive DVDs, I put in one with only mono sound the other day and was surprised when the sound came out the Left and Right speakers. After monkeying around with the menus, I got it to the point where the sound comes out the L, C, & R channels. This happens while paying both 1.0 and 2.0 mono sources.

Does anyone know if there is a way to have only the Center channel active during mono playback? This is the way I prefer to watch mono movies and the way my old receiver handled them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the 797, can't you just use the "TV" DSP selection?

The only DSP choice I get is "Mono Movie," which will sends the signal to the R, C, & L channels; any other DSP I try says "Not available on this source."

Pro Logic II will play mono sources through the center channel.
