Excellent news for this under-rated film, and getting 2004 off to a nice start, wouldn't you say ?

Those are exactly the extras it would take to make me purchase vs. rent the film. I love the soundtrack to this film and the sugar and sandpaper mix of Gayle and Waits during the vocal pieces. [IMG]

What? 1.37:1 OAR? Surely it is going to be 1.78:1/1.85:1 anamorphic? [IMG]

A lavish, maligned and entertaining musical. The fans will be pleased.

Good news indeed, but please, Francis, get a decent cd of the ost out, the old one needs remastering...and it needs it bad.

Note that this release will apparently be in the film's original aspect ratio of 1.37:1. This will surely be a confusing point for many, but it's exactly how it was released in 1982.

There should be no debate at all. When it played first-run, theatres were instructed to run it in Academy ratio. I saw it opening day, first show, at the Route 4 RKO in Paramus, where they ran it 1.37. When I asked the manager about the ratio, he mentioned that Coppola and his crew had spent the previous day at the theatre setting up the picture and sound.

I'll admit it, I've never seen the film. But being a Tom Waits fanatic this is a must buy for me.

What are the chances of Warner Bros. releasing Coppola's "other" musical on the same date?

"Finian's Rainbow" was one of the titles in the AOL poll. Wouldn't be suprised if they both come out the same day.[IMG]
