Planning to build an in-wall rack (with rails). Looking for a good/affordable source for metal frame, shelves and spacers. Anybody got on-line sources they can suggest? (I've already checked Smarthome).

I think Markertek sells this stuff. I'm not sure they're the cheapest, but I've always had good luck buying from them.

You can also try The Container Store (http://www.thecontainerstore.com). They have several types of shelving systems. I bought black wire-rack shelving from them for my HT gear rack.
Another place to try is restaurant supply companies, they stock lots of shelving systems as well.
